SURELY one of the world’s most impressive selection of motorcycles ever to be offered in one place at one time is currently going under the hammer in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

We stumbled across the auction while surfing the net (as we are prone to do …); here are a few of the 1,750 bikes for sale, with indicative prices (in $US) provided by the auction house.

Enjoy!

1988 Honda RC30 750: $50,000 – $65,000
1951 Vincent Rapide; $100,000 – $110,000
1938 Indian Four; no price estimate offered

1969 (sand-cast) Honda CB750; $38,000 – $50,000
1980 Ducati Mike Hailwood Replica; $25,000 – $32,000
1973 Triumph Hurricane; $28,000 – $32,000
1929 Husqvarna 30A Racer; $8,000 – $11,000
… and our favourite, a 1968 Munch Mammoth; $100,000 – $150,000. Sigh, oh for a Powerball!

Frequently asked questions

What’s the deal?

A regular ‘Bikes For Sale’ advert on The Bike Shed Times costs $12 for 12 weeks. You get one photograph and your own description of your bike, up to 200 words, on our Bikes For Sale page. Your bike must be available for viewing in Australia, and must be unusual, rare, exotic, historically significant or just plan beautiful; in other words: Something special.

What are Editor’s comments?

Some historical context often adds value to a special bike. Our expert commentary helps buyers understand why your bike is so special, and why it is or may become a collectible. An Editor’s comment adds $9 to the cost of your advert.

Can I supply my own photo?

Sure thing. So long as the quality is good (sharp focus, well lit, showing the whole bike, at least 400KB in size) you can take your own photo and send it to us at advertising@bikeshedtimes.com.

Can you guys take the photo instead?

Sure we can — but only if your bike is in metropolitan Perth, Western Australia. If so, select the option above and we’ll make contact to set up the photo shoot. This option costs $40.

What’s The Showroom option all about?

For an extra $12, we will also post your bike on The Showroom website with up to 10 pics. Your advert on our Bikes For Sale page will include a link to The Showroom, so buyers can click-the-link to see the extra pics. We are happy to use your photos if the quality is good, or we will take the pics for you (Perth metro only, $40, as above).

What’s The Bike Shed Times newsletter?

Every week or two, we send subscribers a newsletter to tell them about recently listed bikes for sale, recently published stories, and any special offers from The Bike Shed Times or from our advertisers and affiliate partners. If you subscribe, you receive the newsletter via email (so you don’t have to keep an eye on Facebook). Subscription is free.

What can go wrong?

Not much, but sometimes our emails get filtered out and go to Junk folders. So if you’ve submitted a form and don’t hear back from us within 24 hours, check the Junk folder in your email.
